Finding True Happiness Through Self-Awareness and Self-Care

Are you happy? Like, really happy? Do you have a deep sense of peace inside despite the highs and lows of your day-to-day life? Most of us go through life chasing love, peace, power, or whatever seems like a “better life”. Or, we go through life running from a past that haunts us with a sense of fear, pain, insecurity, or judgment. We spend our days trying to create a better moment while never feeling a deep sense of peace in this moment. So, what can we do to find true happiness and contentment in our lives? The answer lies in self-awareness and self-care.

Self-Awareness
The first step towards finding true happiness is to become more self-aware. Self-awareness is the ability to identify and recognize your own emotions and behavior, as well as the thoughts and feelings of those around you. Being self-aware allows us to understand how our decisions impact ourselves and others. It also helps us identify our triggers so that we can be better equipped to manage them. Building self-awareness takes practice but it can open up an entire world of possibilities when it comes to finding true happiness.

Self-Care
The second step towards finding true happiness is engaging in regular self-care practices. Self-care is any activity that we engage in deliberately in order to take care of our mental, physical, and emotional health. Examples include taking time for yourself each day for some quiet reflection or meditation; engaging in activities that bring joy such as reading books or baking; exercising regularly; eating healthy foods; getting enough sleep; setting boundaries with others; and seeking professional help if necessary. By engaging in regular self-care practices, we are able to stay balanced even during challenging times and cultivate deeper connections with ourselves and those around us.

Finding true happiness requires both self-awareness and self-care. With these two tools at our disposal, we can learn how to properly manage our emotions and take care of ourselves mentally, physically, and emotionally —allowing us to find contentment within ourselves no matter what outer circumstances may arise.
